7th Alarm Warehouse Fire

This fire occurred on October 12, 2005 in an old Home Base
that spanned over 1 and one half blocks.  The fire had many
access problems and lack of hydrants in the area.  The
construction and extended burn time caused an almost
immediate collapse of the roof after units arrived, forcing
units to quickly stop their interior attack.  Units made a
extreme effort to stop the fire from the inside, but were
forced outside quickly volume of fire.  The fire was one of the
largest warehouse fires in recent Oakland history, with
flames over 100 feet in the air at times.   The building was a
total loss.
